eBooks and Videos Now Available at Halifax Public Libraries

April 7, 2008 – Halifax    Halifax Halifax Public Libraries is excited to announce the expansion of its downloadable OverDrive collection – in addition to the already very popular audiobooks, library patrons can now download eBooks and videos as well.
The new formats are available since Monday, April 7, 2008.

The eBook collection includes everything from popular fiction and nonfiction, to romance, current events titles, and even cookbooks. Unlike audiobooks, which allow users to listen to library material, eBooks are downloadable full-text formats that can be read on most computers and portable devices.

"We are very excited to offer bestselling authors such as James Patterson and Nora Roberts, and popular titles such as Eat, Pray, Love in these alternate formats. Customers now have the options to download what they want, when they want it, from anywhere they want," said Debbie LeBel, Manager of Collection Development for Halifax Public Libraries.

Videos available for download include documentaries, exercise videos, instructional titles, children’s cartoons, and a limited selection of feature films.

Downloading and enjoying audiobooks, eBooks and videos is easy – simply visit halifaxpubliclibraries.ca for step-by-step instructions. All you need is the required software (available as a free download) and a Halifax Public Libraries library card.

Most downloadable materials have a set loan period, but you don't have to worry about returning titles on time – the files return themselves! So start downloading and enjoy!
