Temporary closure of the Captain William Spry Library

The Captain William Spry Community Centre is getting a facelift. And the library, located within the centre, is getting a new look too. As a result of the renovations, the Captain William Spry Library will close at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 21 and will reopen on April 21. Library users are asked to call 490-5744 or visit halifaxpubliclibraries.ca before their next visit to Captain William Spry to confirm renovations are complete.

During the closure of Captain William Spry, the exterior book return will be accessible and cleared daily. Library users who have selected Captain William Spry as a location to pick up holds are encouraged to choose another location during the closure; otherwise, requested items will not be available until the library reopens.

When it reopens, library users will find the space is larger with more computers organized in age-specific groups. There will be new materials on the shelves, new toys and learning objects for toddlers, comfortable seating throughout the branch and a section for teens on the second floor.

Halifax Public Libraries apologizes for the inconvenience of the temporary closure and looks forward to serving library users better in the refurbished surroundings.

Halifax Public Libraries is the life-long learning centre of the community and the place people turn to for the discovery of ideas, the joy of reading and the power of information.
