Community Volunteer Income Tax Programs

A free service by Canada Revenue Agency

Complete your income tax return with the help of volunteers trained by the Canada Revenue Agency.

Who is eligible?

Individuals or families with a modest income, social assistance recipients, newcomers to Canada, seniors and students can help get help completing and submitting their income tax returns.

Filing an income tax return gives you access to the credits and benefits to which you are entitled.

Taxpayer status Family income
Single person under $30,000
Adult couples under $40,000
Single parent or family under $35,000 with $2,500 for each additional dependant

Who is ineligible?

Volunteers do not complete returns involving rentals, self-employment, capital gains, complex investments, bankruptcy, or returns for deceased individuals.

Available in what languages?

Customers looking for service in languages other than English can either call the CRA General Enquiries number to ask for specific languages or look on the CRA website.

Registration began March 1. Program runs until April 30.
