How the Program Works
You need to register so that we can keep track of the books you have read (or were read to you) over the summer and record what prizes you have earned.
♦ Drop in to your nearest branch library: You will get a magazine with games, puzzles etc., and a passport that you use to record the names of the books you read or were read to you over the summer.
When you register you will also be asked to set a reading goal for the summer.
Once registered, borrow some great books, comics, or magazines and start reading! Books from home count too! Write down the titles of the books you read (or were read to you) in your passport. Make sure you bring your passport each time you visit any branch of the Halifax Public Libraries.
Need help choosing some items? Check out our booklists and book displays for some ideas, or ask our friendly staff to help you choose some great books from the library's collection! And don=t forget! You will need a library card to borrow from our collection of great summer reading. It is free—so get a card now!
Bring your passport to the library with you to report on your progress. The library will start taking reports beginning the week of Tuesday, July 2. 2013. By reporting, you can earn rewards and be eligible for other great prize draws. The last day to report on your reading and pick up incentives at branch libraries is Saturday, September 7, 2013.
The Fun and Games tab will take you to the national youth TD Summer Reading Club where you will find e-cards, online games, polls, posting and reading book reviews, and much more!
