How do I make credit card payments by phone?
Call the Phone Payment line at (902) 490-5763. The service is available Monday – Thursday from 9 a.m. – 8:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m, and Sundays (September – mid-May) from 2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.. Please have your library barcode number and a credit card ready. We accept MasterCard, Visa and American Express.
What can I pay for by phone?
You can use the Phone Payment line to:
- Pay for overdue fines or charges
- Pay for lost or damaged items
- Pay for meeting room rentals
- Make monetary donations to the library
How can I make a payment after hours?
You can leave a voice mail message at this number above. You may also need to leave a voice mail message during the line's regularly staffed hours. Please only leave your contact information on the message and not your credit card information. Staff will return your call as soon as possible to complete the transaction.
Can I make a payment online?
Yes. You can also use the Library’s Web Payment service to pay for library fines and fees only, not meeting room rentals or donations. This service is available at all times (except during occasional upgrades and maintenance). For more information, please visit our Web Payment information page.
Web Payment accepts Visa and MasterCard.
Will my credit card information appear on my library account and will it be secure?
These payments are one-time transactions only. Your credit card information will not appear on your library account and we will not save the information once the transaction has been completed. If you wish to make a phone-in payment at another time, you will need to provide the information again.

How soon will my library account be updated after a payment is made?
Once the payment has been accepted, the Library will issue you an authorization number for your records and update your library account.
Can I make debit card payments over the phone?
No, debit card payments cannot be made over the phone.
I paid for some lost items which I have just found. Can I get a refund?
Within 90 days of payment, bring your items to your nearest library branch and speak to library staff to arrange for a refund. Credit card refunds cannot be processed over the phone. Refunds will be issued by cash or cheque.
