Credit card payments by phone FAQ

  1. How do I make credit card payments by phone?
    Call the Phone Payment line at 490-5763. Please have your library card barcode number and a valid credit card ready. We accept MasterCard, Visa and American Express. Once the payment has been accepted, the Library will issue you an authorization number for your records and update your library account.
  2. What can I pay for by phone?
    You can use the Phone Payment line to:
    - pay for overdue fines or charges
    - pay for lost or damaged items
    - pay for meeting room rentals
    -make monetary donations to the library
  3. When does the service operate?
    The Phone Payment service is available Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  4. How can I make a payment after hours?
    You can leave a voice mail message at this number. Staff will return calls between Monday - Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sometimes, if the library is very busy, you may need to leave a voice mail message during the line's regularly staffed hours. Staff will return your call as soon as possible.
  5. Should I leave my credit card information on the voice mail?
    For security reasons, we prefer you leave only your contact information. A staff member will return your call and complete the transaction with you on the phone.
  6. Will my credit card information appear on my library account and will it be secure?
    These payments are one-time transactions only. Your credit card information will not appear on your library account and we will not save the information once the transaction has been completed. If you wish to make a phone-in payment at another time, you will need to provide the information again.

  7. How soon will the payment show on my library account?
    As soon as the transaction has been successfully completed your account will be updated.
  8. Can I make debit card payments over the phone?
    No, debit card payments cannot be made over the phone.
  9. I paid for some lost items which I have just found. Can I leave them in the bookdrop and phone for a refund?
    No, credit card refunds cannot be processed over the phone. If you need a refund on a credit card payment, please visit a branch with your authorization number within 30 days of payment.
  10. Do you have online payment options?
    The Library hopes to implement this feature in the future.
