Halifax Explosion Truths
The Africville Experience

Please note: Due to unforeseen circumstances, this program has been cancelled.

In the aftermath of 1917's Halifax Explosion, the destruction in Africville, nestled on the shore of the Bedford Basin, was largely denied by city authorities. Emergency aid failed to appear; reconstruction support was refused. Sunday Miller, former Executive Director of the Africville Heritage Trust, and Juanita Peters, local film-maker and playwright, will speak the truth of the Africville story, the impact of racism, and the resilience of the African Nova Scotian community.

This program is a part of the Library's commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Halifax Explosion.

Event Location: Terry Symonds Auditorium

Update: November 21, 2017

Thursday, November 30 | 7 p.m.
