Righteously Political Poetry: Canticles vs. Slavery and vs. Imperialism
with George Elliott Clarke

George Elliott Clarke will recite recent poetry attacking slavery and imperialism--5 centuries worth. He will read from his ongoing epic poem, Canticles, specifically Canticles I (MMXVI) and Canticles I (MMXVII). He will also read poems from Gold. The recent Parliamentary Poet Laureate (2016-17) and Toronto Poet Laureate (2012-15) has won an international reputation for poetic excellence - before eyes and in ears - and delivers unforgettable performances of unapologetically visceral verse.
