Offer a Library Program with Us

The Library presents close to 300 programs every month for all ages in 15 communities. Some are created by us while many are offered in partnership with community members and groups.

Library programs expand opportunities for learning, conversation, entertainment, and discovery.

If you like and share our goals, then offer a program with us. To get started, please review our guidelines and complete the form below.


  • All programs offered in partnership with Halifax Public Libraries must be open to the public and free of charge.
  • Programs must provide information and/or an experience for the public without promoting a business, product, or commercial enterprise.
  • Fundraising is not permitted.
  • Programs are generally planned four months before their delivery date.

Room Rentals

Organizations or individuals who are not partnering with the Library on a program can book a space for their event at some of our Library locations. Find out about Library room rentals.

Program Selection

While we welcome all suggestions, we are unable to be a partner for all of the programs pitched to us. Our selection process takes into account the Library’s strategic goals, identified community interests and needs, and our organizational capacity.

Library staff will be in touch within two weeks of receiving program partnership proposals.
