About the writers

Grace

Hi! my name is Grace and I’m in eleventh grade at Sacred Heart School of Halifax. Though our social action program at school I’ve been given the privilege to volunteer at Halifax Central library every Wednesday morning with my partner Emma. At the Library, we can be found behind the scenes helping to make new displays, and we always enjoy getting to play with the kids in Shake, Rattle, and Read. Some of my other hobbies are swimming, painting, baking, and traveling. Since my Hogwarts house is Hufflepuff, I am a loyal friend who loves to lend a helping hand. I am someone who is always willing to accept a challenge and I strive to always do my very best.

Emma

Hi there! My name is Emma and I’m in eleventh grade at Sacred Heart School of Halifax. I volunteer with my partner Grace every Wednesday morning at Halifax Central Library and we always have a blast!  Our social action teacher, Mrs. McKay assigns every girl in our grade a different volunteer placement to help out in our community. Here at the Library, we put up different displays, play with kids, and sometimes get free food. My Hogwarts house is Hufflepuff so I enjoy some free food every once and awhile.  Being a Hufflepuff, I connect with others easily and am always ready to lend a helping hand. These are attributes that I try to bring to the table whenever volunteering and I can’t wait to see what other fun opportunities Grace and I will get to do next!
