The 2021 Federal Election campaign is underway and navigating the internet for accurate voting information can be challenging.

Know Your Vote is election information made simple.

Each box below is a question with a link to a reliable answer. Click the boxes below to know your vote.

Key Dates

  • September 1 - Candidates are all confirmed.
  • September 8 - Voting at correctional institutions.
  • September 10, 11, 12, 13 - Voting at advance polling stations and Elections Canada offices.
  • September 14 - Vote by mail application deadline.
  • September 20 - Election Day!

How do I get on the voters list?

Register before September 14, 6:00 PM by using the government’s handy Online Voter Registration Service or when you vote.

Can I vote?

You are eligible if you: are a Canadian citizen, will be at least 18 years old on election day, and can prove your identity and address.

I don't have a permanent address - can I vote?

Yes. Proof of an address can be a Letter of Confirmation of Residence from a shelter, food bank, or other social service on the list.

I don’t have ID – can I vote?

Yes. Vote in-person, declare in writing your identity and address, and have an eligible voter vouch for you from your same polling station.

Who are the candidates in my district?

Scroll down to "Info for Voters," enter your postal code, and click on the candidates button. A complete list will be available September 1.

Search for your electoral/voting district by using your postal code, a candidate's name, map, or name of town.

Is there a map of districts?

The map of Nova Scotia is divided into electoral districts according to regions. Take a look and download a copy.

Are there election activities at the Library?

Yes. Find your local Library location and stop by to take part in one of our Tell Us! activities for the federal election.

How can I vote?

You can vote in-person on Election Day, in-person at advance polls, in-person at an Elections Canada office, or mail in a special ballot.

Can I vote by mail?

Yes. Before September 14, 6:00pm, apply to vote by mail on elections.ca or in-person at your local Elections Canada office.

Can I vote online? By phone?

No. But, there are many dates when you can vote in-person: September 10, 11, 12, 13, and 20. Or register to vote by mail by September 14.

Where do I go to vote in person?

Go to your assigned polling station. You'll find where with the Online Voter Information Service, or check your mail for a voters info card.
