For more complex questions, including medical, legal and consumer information, you will receive guidance on how to research the topic.
Q. Do I have to be a member of Halifax Public Libraries in order to use Ask a Librarian?
A. No, we are pleased to offer this service to all visitors to our website.
Q. How quickly can I expect a response?
A. Ask a Librarian staff will make every effort to respond within 24 hours (Tuesday to Saturday). If you need a more immediate response, please use our telephone information service (902) 490-5710.
Q. Can I access genealogical information via Ask a Librarian?
A. Staff can do obituary searches and provide basic genealogical research assistance. In your e-mail inquiry, please include:
- the person's full name
- any important dates (e.g., birth, death),
- and the specific information that you're searching for.
