A Look Back at African Heritage Month 2026

What a month!

African Heritage Month 2026 brought music, poetry, storytelling, film, food, and so much more to all 14 of our branches throughout February. From opening night to our final events, communities across the region came together to celebrate, learn, and connect.

This year's theme, Strength in Unity, came to life in every corner of our system. We heard original poetry set to music at 5 Poets Breaking Into Song. We learned about Black music legends with Julia Tynes. We gathered for Lift Every Voice. And that's just a glimpse of what filled our branches this month.
