NOTICE: March 17, 2020
During Halifax Public Libraries' COVID-19 related-closures, Suggestions for Purchase have been paused. This page will be updated when service resumes. Learn more.
We're always open to hearing about what you want to see in your Library.
Tell us! You can:
- Make a suggestion for purchase if an item is:
- Not in our collection (we tend to order the most popular items, so be sure to search our collection first).
- Already in print and released in North America (we do not consider items that have not yet been published).
- Suggest up to 5 items each month.
If you want to know more about how we decide which items to purchase, please see our Collection Development Policy.
If you are a creator, and you would like your work included in our collection, there is a different process for making a suggestion. Please see our Information for Creators page.
How to make a suggestion
To suggest a purchase, you need to login to your Library account.
Once you're logged in go to My Settings, click Suggested Purchases under the Account Preferences heading at the left of the page.
Here, you can view past and pending suggestions, and click Add a Suggestion to make a new one.
