Other Ways to Borrow & Return

Borrow from other libraries

Borrow Anywhere, Return Anywhere in Nova Scotia (BARA)

You can walk into any participating public library, community college, or university library in Nova Scotia and register for a library card to borrow items for free. You can also return items to any participating library, regardless of where the items were originally borrowed. This makes it easy to borrow from anywhere in the province.

Interlibrary Loans

If we don’t have an item that you need, one option is to borrow it from another library.

As a library card holder, you can borrow up to 5 items at a time from other libraries in Nova Scotia, across Canada, and sometimes even from the USA.

Get more information about Interlibrary Loans or start your search with our online forms. We can help you find what you need.

Need the Library to come to you?

We offer 2 free delivery services, Home Delivery and Borrow by Mail, for people who are unable to visit our branches due to personal circumstances (disability, long-term illness or caregiving responsibilities), and those who live in rural areas of the Municipality.

If you fit this description, click through to learn more about the services listed above, and complete the online form. We'll contact you to confirm you're eligible and complete your registration.
