Step Into Leadership: You Could Be Lieutenant Governor or Mayor for a Day!

Two unforgettable opportunities for young readers who reach their 2025 TD Summer Reading Club goals

This summer, your reading could take you all the way to City Hall or Government House. Halifax Public Libraries is excited to announce two exclusive Grand Prizes for the 2025 TD Summer Reading Club—each offering a once-in-a-lifetime peek behind the scenes of public service.

Lieutenant Governor for a Day

One reader will be welcomed to Government House to spend the day with Nova Scotia’s Lieutenant Governor, experiencing the history and importance of this role. You’ll receive a guided tour, take part in official activities, and learn how public service helps shape the province.

This special prize includes travel, parking, and lunch for the winner and two parents or guardians. The experience will take place on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.

Mayor for a Day

Another lucky reader will join Mayor Andy Fillmore at City Hall to experience what it’s like to lead our city. From an official welcome to a special behind-the-scenes tour, you’ll take part in civic activities and see how decisions that shape our community are made.

The winner can bring along two parents or guardians for this special day in Fall or early Winter 2025.
