Teen Services Staff Receive 2018 Community Spirit Award

Some welcome news came to us from our friends at The Youth Project.

“You were nominated by all of our staff for your support and dedication to our organization and the youth we support.”

As fans of The Youth Project, we were honoured and grateful for their recognition. Our staff gladly attended the award ceremony, and we enjoyed hearing about the good work being done by organizations and individuals in the community.

We want to thank you for all you do.

The Youth Project leaders have been advisors to Halifax Public Libraries for years.

Together, we have made a home for Connect the Dots, co-hosted Pride events, and ensured our collections have relevant and wide-ranging information for youth to read.

According to the invitation we received, these activities and the people behind them are why the Library was singled out for some spirited appreciation.

Striving to make Nova Scotia a safer, happier, and healthier place for LGBTQ2+ youth.

Since 1993, The Youth Project has been in operation and making a difference across the province.

The organization’s Ally Network, opens a new window is one of their more impressive achievements. An Ally is someone who accepts, appreciates and celebrates lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) youth. The network proves once more what we can achieve when we listen to each other and work together.

Halifax Public Libraries is a very proud ally.
