Hunger Games Movie Review by Talia, Teen Blogger

Hunger Games DVD cover

Now before I begin my movie review you should know that I am a HUGE Hunger Games fan.

I loved the books before they got popular, and they still are some of my favourite books ever. I was so excited to see the movie as everyone I talked to told me how amazing it was. Now I feel a little differently about it.

I thought it was a horrible movie. I started crying 5 minutes after the movie started and didn't stop 'til the credits were rolling. And this movie is 2 hours and 22 minutes long! As anyone who was sitting anywhere near me in the theatre could tell you, I was inconsolable.

The movie was very well done and stayed fairly true to the books, but the problem was that since it was so well done (as well as that the acting was superb) it was way too realistic for me. Due to time constraints they also had to edit out a lot of the sweet romance parts that I loved about the books, so you were left with this cruel heartless movie that's all about killing each other in order to survive.

The worst part for me was how disturbing it was. A lot of people were saying there was excessive gore, and I tend to faint at the sight of blood, but I didn't find the gore that bad. (Of course it could have been because I was crying to hard to actually see the blood). There were one or two scary parts, as well as constant camera shaking to give you the feel of running and excitement.

It was a very well put together movie, but the plot line was just way too realistic and I couldn't handle it.

Now I know a lot of you guys will disagree with my opinion, and that is totally fine. I get that a lot of people love this movie, but for me it was a traumatizing experience and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It certainly isn't a feel good movie. Do not go and see it unless you are sure that you can handle it.
