Christmas Cookies! by Talia, Teen Blogger

That time of year is hTree Cookies - photoere... the time when there are twinkly lights everywhere, everyone seems to be in a good mood, the smell of cookies lingers in your house, and you get to curl up by the fire at night (or your favourite fire APP!)

It's my favourite time of year. It's Christmas time!
I was planning on telling you about some of my favourite holiday books, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that in order to REALLY enjoy holiday books, or anything about the holiday season really, you have to have some Christmas cookies to snack on... In fact, I was eating one when I realized that!

So before you pick up a novel, how about you pick up a cook book and make some snacks to enjoy?

There is never a better time to be baking than the holiday season. Baked treats are great to bring to parties, as gifts, or just for you and your family to enjoy. I'm a huge baker. I bake multiple times a week and almost everyday in December, so I thought I'd share some tips and recipes before you head off to the kitchen.

My favourite thing to make is cookies, especially the rolled type, so you can cut them out into cute shapes and then decorate them. Make sure when you roll out the dough that it's all the same thickness. It's hard to bake cookies properly if they are all different sizes!

I always take my cookies out of the oven when they still look a little soft.

I leave them on the pan for a couple minutes to let them harden up, and then I remove them to cool completely. That way you don't have to worry about them burning and they end up nice and soft instead of crunchy.

Decorating is loads of fuCookies - photon. You can have your siblings and friends help too. That way everyone can personalize their own cookies. You can buy pre-made icing from a store, but I find that it doesn't taste nearly as good as homemade frosting does. Once you've iced your cookies you get to put whatever else you want on them. I like using sprinkles, chocolate chips, crushed candy canes, gummy candies, M&Ms and Skittles. Use your imagination.

Now for the best part – eating them!
