About the Dartmouth North Renovation

The Dartmouth North Renovation project is underway and it's bringing big changes to the Dartmouth North Community Centre and Library!

For the first phase of the renovation, we took the Library outside, with a playground and improved green, grassy spaces—creating an innovative shared space where the Library and Parks & Recreation can run programs and try new things outside.

Next, we'll be turning our attention to the facilities inside. In the second phase of work, we'll be looking to modernize the space to meet community needs. We'll be working with our community to find out what changes are needed. Stay tuned for updates on this progress.

Support

The first phase of the renovation was made possible thanks to the generous support of the TD Common Ground Project, which provided funding to Halifax Public Libraries and Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM), as part of its efforts to bring new life to green spaces across Canada. Additional funding was provided by Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), and HRM’s capital budget. Plans and funding for the interior renovation are still being determined.
