The TD Summer Reading Club is officially underway at Halifax Public Libraries, and what a start we've had!
Throughout the summer, we'll update this page with the latest system-wide totals so you can see how our community of readers is growing week by week. You can also visit your local Library branch to check out its ocean-themed wall tracker and see how close your community is to reaching buried treasure.
We had 7,263 readers sign up in 2025. Think we can top that number this year?!
Updates as of June 24, 2026

Since registration opened on June 17, an incredible 2,368 kids have already signed up to catch the reading wave and take part in Canada's biggest bilingual summer reading program.
Together, Summer Reading Club participants have already earned 580 points by reading, drawing, building, creating, exploring, attending Library programs, and trying new things. Every activity counts, and every story makes a splash!

There's still plenty of time to join the adventure.
The TD Summer Reading Club is a free program for kids of all ages, interests, and abilities (recommended for ages 3+). Set your own points goal, earn prizes, and make waves all summer long. Registration remains open until August 31, and participants can report points until September 13.
Along the way, kids can earn fun squishy mochi prizes and be entered for a chance to win exciting grand prizes, including LEGO sets, a Nintendo Switch 2 with Pokopia, a bicycle and helmet from CycleSmith Halifax, a giant art supply kit, and more.
Ready to dive in? Visit the TD Summer Reading Club page to sign up, learn how the program works, and explore this year's prizes and activities.
And, stay in the know with all the latest Library news. Sign up for our E-Newsletter here, and be sure to select 'Kids' as an Audience of interest.
Check back often throughout the summer—we'll be updating our totals regularly to see just how many waves Halifax readers can make together.
