Policy:
The Halifax Public Libraries Board is responsible for the naming of library branches and buildings.
The Halifax Public Libraries Board will give priority to naming its branches and buildings based on the geographic location.
The above policy is based on the objective of aiding the public to identify and locate branches by giving branches and buildings clear and simple names, based on geographic location.
Priorities:
- Names based on geographic location
- Clear and simple names
- Names that reflect a significant contribution by persons or organizations to the library or its mission
- Consideration will be given to naming after the centre or complex in which the branch is located.
