      Know Your Vote at Halifax Public Libraries is a collection of information to support you in preparing for a municipal, provincial, or federal election.

      With the Halifax municipal election happening on October 17, expand your reading list this fall to include a title or two from this election and democracy themed reading list.

      One Hundred Years of Struggle 

      Joan Sangster, acclaimed historian, delves into the history of women’s voting rights in Canada. This title covers the struggles that women faced for equal voting rights by starting with anti-slavery advocate Mary Shadd Cary, to the issues Indigenous women faced in the 1950s and 1960s to gain the right to vote.
