Back in the age of social distancing and Library closures, Library staff dreamed up many new ways to reach and entertain community members. The Grab & Go Kit—fully stocked activity bags or boxes filled with creative items and a guide—has become a Library staple, and a great way to get creative.
Learn a little bit more about these kit creations, and how you can grab and go with your own!
What kinds of kits do you have?
Our kits are ever-changing and growing based on community needs and interests. While some kits are ongoing and sometimes tied to programming); other kits are temporary—perhaps tied to a holiday (like Eid Al Adha Craft Kits) or season (like S'mores to-Go Kits).
Some kits are for kids, some for teens, and some for adults—and many are for all ages!
Some kits are available at Library branches, and some have been created by staff at specific branches for their local community members.
You can always find out what kits are available by:

What's in my kit?
Your kit will come with:
- The supplies needed to make your craft, recipe, or project
- An item overview and description
- A guide (if required)
- If applicable: Additional details on contests, sharing your creation, or taking part in a program
You may need to provide some basic materials of your own to complete the project, e.g. glue or scissors.
How do I get a kit?
We love creating kits! They are often very popular, so supplies are limited and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis; or by a registration process in branch or online.
To grab and go with your very own kit, first you'll need to know what kits are available to you.

I've used my kit! What do I do now?
It's yours to keep! Whether you made sparkly slime, or a delicious snack, we encourage you to share your creations and discoveries with us!
Tag us on social media at @hfxpublib along with the name of your kit, and we'll add it to our photo collection. You may see your creation on our website or social media.
