  • ◦ Library health protocols will take precedence over all terms, where applicable.
  • ◦ This form is for inquiry only and does not secure a booking.
  • ◦ The Library’s Room Booking Policy will be followed throughout the rental.
  • ◦ No admission fees or donations will be collected or items sold.
  • ◦ The room setup and tear-down will be completed within the booked time.
  • ◦ If applicable, only finger foods and beverages will be served.
  • ◦ By the end of rental, all catering items will be removed; and all waste placed in proper receptacles.
  • ◦ Halifax Central Library is not able to advertise for rentals on our communications channels, and use of the Library’s logo is not permitted.
  • ◦ Bookings cancelled with less than 48-hours’ notice are non-refundable. A refund will be issued if the Library is notified of cancellation 48 hours in advance. Refunds are available by cheque only.
  • ◦ The Library will not be held responsible for any personal injury, loss, theft, or damage to equipment resulting from the actions of any person or group using the meeting room facilities.
  • ◦ In accordance with the Canadian Copyright Act, any viewing or exhibitions of films must have Public Performing Rights. Films may be shown if a license has been purchased by the organizer from a rights holder such as Audio Cine Films or Criterion Pictures. The Library assumes no responsibility if a film is shown illegally.
  • ◦ Payment is due 1 week prior to booking.

The Halifax Central Library’s spaces are primarily used for library organized events. When available, we are pleased to offer space for rent. Rentals are made available regardless of the beliefs or affiliation of individuals or groups requesting use of the rooms. Permission to rent at the Halifax Central Library does not in any way constitute or imply endorsement of the renters' policies, beliefs, or programs by Halifax Public Libraries, library staff, or Halifax Regional Library Board.
