Suggestion for Purchase
Something missing?
We're always open to hearing about what you want to see in your Library. Tell us!
Process
You can:
- Make a suggestion for purchase if an item is already in print and released in North America AND not in our collection. We do not consider items that have not yet been published.
- Suggest up to two print/physical items (books, DVDs, CDs, specialty items, etc.) each month.
- Suggest unlimited digital items (e-books, audiobooks) via the Libby app's 'Notify Me' function.
If you want to know more about how we decide which items to purchase, please see our Collection Development Policy.
If you are a creator, and you would like your work included in our collection, there is a different process for making a suggestion. Please see our Information for Creators page.
How to make a suggestion
1. To suggest a print/physical item purchase:
Log in to your Library account.
- Once you're logged in go to My Settings, click Suggested Purchases under the Account Preferences heading at the left of the page.
- Here, you can view past and pending suggestions, and click Add a Suggestion to make a new one.
- Please note: If the Library purchases your recommendation, you'll still need to place a hold if you want to borrow the item—Suggestion for Purchase does not automatically add you to the holds list.
2. To suggest a digital item purchase:
- Log in to your account on the Libby app.
- Add the Notify Me tag to any title you’d like us to consider. If the Library purchases the title you've tagged, you’ll receive a notification in Libby (and on your device if you have push notifications turned on).
- Please note: You’ll still need to place a hold if you want to borrow the book—Notify Me does not automatically add you to the waitlist.
