The Keshen Goodman Library, which sits at the gateway of Clayton Park’s Mainland Common, is a 25,000 square foot library with a collection of over 100,000 titles. This uniquely-designed structure, opened in 2001, boasts a 20 ft. ceiling and a cozy café with a fireplace. The library, which offers Self-Check, Self-Service holds and room rentals, serves as a resource for information and technology, with over 50 public access computers, Internet access, and a variety of office and children’s software. An Information Technology Training Centre is also available for community group use. The Keshen Goodman Library, which won a 2002 Lieutenant-Governor's Design Award for Architecture, was built through a bequest left to the Halifax Regional Library by Marion Keshen in honour of the Keshen Goodman family.
Keshen Goodman library is now lending out iPads for in-branch use. There are six iPads available to borrow at the Information Desk. Halifax Public Libraries cardholders, over the age of 14, can check out an iPad to use in the Library for up to four hours.
There are also four iPads tethered to furniture at two stations in the youth area. All of the library's iPads are loaded with apps and are WiFi enabled!
Halifax Public Libraries' iPad Pilot is an innovative new program that allows customers to use iPad tablets within the branch. Access to information today is rooted in technology, and the iPad Pilot removes common barriers to the use of new devices. Please note: iPads cannot be reserved in advance, they are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
