Paws to Read

Dogs are a young reader's best friend.

The Paws to Read® program gives kids the chance to build their confidence by reading to a dog—they're excellent listeners!

How it works

  • The program is open to children in Grades 1-5.
  • Your child will be matched with a reading therapy dog and their volunteer handler (who are certified by Therapeutic Paws of Canada, opens a new window) for 30 minute sessions.
  • You'll need to sign up in advance. This program is popular and space is limited.

Where and when

We offer Paws to Read® at a number of locations and for one session at a time throughout the year. However, this program is popular and spots fill quickly.
