Updated January 2023

The Library continues to partner with the Province of Nova Scotia as community distribution hubs for COVID-19 Rapid Test Kits. To date, the Library has handed out 391,183 kits, equalling 1,728,460 tests.

We are all playing a part in keeping our communities safe, and getting take home testing kits into people’s hands is one more way your Library can contribute.

Before you pick up your kit

A safe and positive experience is what we want you to have when picking up your rapid test kit.

  • Feeling sick or think you are at risk for COVID-19? If yes, please stay home and complete Nova Scotia Health’s self-assessment tool or call 811.
  • Wearing a mask when picking up your kit is highly recommended, but not required.
  • Bring appropriate outerwear, as there may be an outside line-up at some locations.
  • Curbside Pick-up is an option for test pick-up.
  • Two test kits per household, please.

Limited but regular supplies

Kits are available at all locations during open hours. We are able to provide 2 kits per household while our supply lasts. Library staff will not take appointments or reserve kits for you. Please do not ask for these special accommodations.

A new supply will arrive regularly and each branch's stock will fluctuate. Public notices will not be sent out on social media when we are in or out of stock.

Instructions

Print at home instructions for your new rapid test are available in English and French, and there are videos instructions for each brand of kit. Look at your kit for the brand name, such as BTNX or BD Biosensor, and find the corresponding instructions on the list.
